The Da Vinci Surgical Robot is the best that technology can offer; with the latest integration, the robot has become an equivalent of the human eye. The robot can now track the surgeon’s eye and allows the surgeon to control the robot’s field of view with his eyes.
The surgeon is able to view a three dimensional map that provides a static image of the organ which helps make a precise and diminutive cut on the organ to be operated, the robot halts when the organs move syncing its movement with the heartbeat and reducing risks.
An innovation bestowed by the Imperial College London, the Da Vinci robot is a blessing for surgeons, who can see underneath the tissues of the organ.
The Da Vinci robot is an example of artificial intelligence at its pinnacle; it is like a guide to the surgeon preventing him from making a wrong cut or any mistake. The inventors Professor Guang Zhong Yang wants to empower the robot to make it autonomous. With technology advancing faster than the speed of light this may not be a far cry in the coming days where the surgeon will not be required at all. Da Vinci may take over all the surgical operations but one cannot help pondering whether it can add that ‘human touch’.
